It was never in my goals to be a “Mature Solo Parent” aka single mom, but one thing for sure is that I am
“Determined to be GREAT!
I can and I will.
I am happily divorced and on a journey to rediscovering my dreams and goals. I was blessed with three amazing children who remind me daily to stop and appreciate the small things.
My oldest son is 25 and a graduate of Penn State University. He lives in Pennsylvania along with the majority of my family. His biological father died when he was 5 and I became “Solo Parent” for the first time. I love all my children, but there is something about my first born. I had him at a young age and I often say we grew up together.
My youngest two are the result of my marriage that ended in a divorce. They are a girl who is 9 and a boy who is 7. I often refer to our trio as “MJB” (mommy, Jaiden, and Bryce), “#my2SideKicksJandB” and “#makingMemories.”
You will often catch us around Houston and surrounding cities at various family events and attractions. I love to travel and expose “#my2SideKicksJandB” to new things and experiences. MJB is famous for packing a snack, putting Kidz Bop on and hitting the road. So you just never know where we will end up.
The main reason I started this blog was because being a “solo parent” is very challenging. However, if you “change the way you look at things and things will change.” And even though this is my second time being a solo parent, I am older and look at solo parenting in a new perspective. I have learned to change the way I look at things to bring clarity and discover new options to solo parenting.
I also believe that you encounter certain trials in your life to help others. So by me getting the courage and strength to share #myTrialMyTestimony I hope that I am giving a solo parent somewhere the courage and strength “TO BE GREAT”.
And remember what Jill Churchill said,
“There is no way to be a perfect mother, but a million ways to be a good one”
